If you do not reblog this, you are in fact lying.
Hey, don’t you fucking scroll down
Notice how Shan Yu doesn’t even question it or make a comment about “BUT YOU’RE A GIRL” he just instantly goes into a “I’LL TEACH YOU TO KILL MY MEN AND STEAL MY VICTORY” rage and I think about this a lot sometimes
((Well that might have to do with the fact that he’s a Hun. Women among the Huns had higher status than their Chinese counterparts and even some of their own men. Women were free to hunt and fight along side of the men, could choose their own husbands and divorce him if she choose to. There were even records of clans being led by women leaders. So for Shan Yu Mulan is just another soldier))
thank you, history side of tumblr.
He also might not have been able to see very well, due to whatever horrible disease has taken hold in his eyeballs.
Pretty serious Wilson’s Disease judging by the copper buildup in in irises, and apparent melanocytosis localized to his sclera.
Thank you medical side of tumblr
Everybody should have this on your blog
THAT COMMENT MADE THIS ANALOGY SUDDENLY EVEN MORE ACCURATE IN AN AWFUL WAY

The original story of the little mermaid is that she must kill the prince in order to be human, and in the end, she loves him too much and kills herself instead.
The artwork is too great not to reblog.
Ok, ok - important expansion: she only has to kill the Prince because the deal was if he fell in love with her she could be human forever, and he didn’t. By which I mean, he was a good person and genuinely nice to her, but he didn’t fall in love. He fell in love with someone else, also perfectly nice - not the seawitch in disguise, fu Disney. The Mermaid is told she can only return to the sea now if she kills the Prince. She goes into the room where he and his lover lie sleeping and they look so beautiful and happy together that she can’t do it.
That’s why she kills herself. And because it was a noble act she returns to sea as foam.
One moral of the story was that women shouldn’t fundamentally change who they are for love of a man, and in theory Han Christian Anderson wrote it for a ballerina with whom he fell in love. She was marrying someone else who wouldn’t let her dance.
No no no- Mermaids turn into foam when they die because they have no soul. Part of the reason that the Little Mermaid wanted to be human was not only because she loved the prince, but because she wanted to have a soul and live forever in Heaven. Then when the prince fell in love with and married someone else, the sea witch said that if she killed the prince she could still have a soul but the mermaid, knowing full well this would be the end of her existence, killed herself instead. But when her body turned to foam, she found her consciousness rising up from the waves- her good deed having granted her a spirit that, while not quite ready for Heaven yet, could perform more good deeds and thus make it into Heaven. The moral stands but man, I don’t know why the foam thing affected me so deeply as a kid.
For me the lesson was: sometimes they don’t love you back, so best not to bet all you have on it.
Hans Christian Anderson was gay, and knew a great deal about unrequited love.
but why is no one talking about how /fast/ hyukjae’s rap in mamacita is
